Story About Our Organization

Let's get closer with us

The Taggart Family Foundation is a non-profit organization co-founded by Willie Taggart—a prominent American football coach (currently with the Baltimore Ravens)—and his wife, Taneshia Taggart.

The foundation is primarily dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for youth in underserved communities through education, mentorship, and professional development.

Our Mission & Vission

Mission

To empower youth by providing access to transformative opportunities in education, sports, workforce development, and personal growth.

Vision

To create a future where every young person has the chance to reach their full potential regardless of their socioeconomic background.

Program Pillars

The foundation’s work is organized into several “Core Pillars” designed to provide a holistic support system for students:

  • Academic Enrichment: Includes after-school tutoring, K-12 literacy programs, STEM initiatives, and college readiness.
  • Workforce Development: Focuses on career exploration, job skills, internships, and providing collegiate scholarships.
  • Financial Literacy & Life Skills: Teaches money management, budgeting, and social-emotional learning.
  • Mentorship: Provides leadership training, civic engagement opportunities, and professional mentoring.
  • Cultural Exposure: Organizes college tours and international travel to broaden students’ perspectives.
  • Sports & Wellness: Leverages Willie Taggart’s professional background to host camps and clinics led by professional athletes, focusing on teamwork and healthy living.
  • Manatee County Collaboration: A major recent project involves a partnership with the School District of Manatee County (specifically Lincoln Memorial Middle School in Palmetto, FL). Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, the foundation will offer structured before- and after-school programs.
  • Community Centers: Willie Taggart has expressed a long-term goal of building new community centers to serve as safe havens and resource hubs for both youth and adults.
  • Support Services: Beyond education, the foundation provides “wraparound services” which include meals, case management, and transportation for participating families.

Key Initiatives & Local Impact

Leadership

  • Willie Taggart (Founder): Brings over 25 years of experience in collegiate and professional sports. Having been the first African-American head coach at five different Division I programs (including Florida State and Oregon), his personal journey from a small-town quarterback to an NFL coach serves as the foundation’s primary inspiration.

  • Taneshia Taggart (Co-Founder): Plays a central role in the foundation’s operations, focusing on family-centric empowerment and equity.
